  • I have some uncertainty about leaving my children with someone I don't know, wouldn't you?"
Yes, many parents have these feelings when they leave their children with a sitter for the first few times, they don't initially know or feel comfortable and then afterwards wonder what they were concerned about! They love us and call on us at every engagement. This is the Little Einstein's team love! We can also conduct an initial short video call so your children can meet with the sitter prior to the actual appointment in some of these case and in many cases, we have the sitter arrive early so the children can connect with the sitter. You wouldn't be the first or last to have felt this when leaving your children at a playgroup, nursery or daycare centre. Our sitters have chosen to work with children because they enjoy it and you'll find that they are quick to put you and your family at ease. What Little Einstein's families have found is that their family soon gets to know a small group of sitters from their area. Please try our service and we'd be happy to help you! We care and we are also parents of two kids, so we have been through this journey.

  • Why should I trust a Little Einstein's sitter or nanny?
We take great pride in ensuring our sitters are pre-screened and vetted. We have a personal one-on-one interview with all potential sitters and nannies and only select a handful of individuals to be on our team. The selection process is lengthy and involves a reference checks with 3 professional references and a 7 point detailed candidate screening. Our reference checks are an industry standard in Saskatchewan and we have a unique way of reviewing a candidates history, background and experience. We also select individuals with a passion and long-standing experience in the childcare industry. We ensure they are CPR certified and have First Aid certification. We also request them to provide a recent criminal background check with the vulnerable sector.
  • Daycare is cheaper and so why should I hire a Sitter/Nanny anyway?
While daycare is often a cheaper option, it is not always the best. It is important to evaluate the needs of your family and children to decide the best choice. Sitter/Nannies provide an up close and personal care you cannot find in daycare. They are tuned in to your family's specific needs. Furthermore, unlike Sitters, Nannies provide light housekeeping (pertaining to the children), provide transportation, and ensure your child is receiving care tailored to their needs. Nanny schedules are often more flexible than daycare hours.
  • What are the benefits of working with a nanny agency?
Why Little Einstein's Nanny Agency and not Facebook? An agency will do a lot of the heavy lifting that busy parents may not have the time to do. Screening only qualified applicants, a good agency will be sure to only send you the best from their applicant pool to interview, saving you time and energy. Doesn't work out with the placement? Most agencies have a policy for sending a replacement nanny. Agencies often also offer continuing education and networking opportunities for their nannies, meaning that your nanny is more apt to be energized and updated on new trends and developments in childcare all year long. Many nannies want to work with Little Einstein's, however, not everyone meets the requirements and standards we have in place, just to give you an idea, we typically have a success ratio of hiring 1 candidate to every 8 potential candidates selected, so we are extremely selective to make sure we match the personality, skills, attributes, qualifications of the candidate to the needs of our family. We also do not rush or force this process. Safety of our first and foremost priority. We are here to add value and build life-long relationships with our families.

Finding the right nanny agency can seem daunting, but this process does not have to be awkward or weird. Identify your family's priorities and needs, then find an agency that can meet those requirements. With the money you'll be spending to work with an agency, make sure you feel you can have an open and honest conversation with your agency's representative. Do they seem to understand you? Are they pleasant and professional? Find out how long have they been in business. Ask friends for suggestions and read reviews online. Find out what their policies and fees are. What are their ongoing training and resource offerings? A great agency will go above and beyond to explain to you how they plan to put your family's needs front and center.

  • Can I have the same sitter each time I book?
Wherever possible your bookings will be offered first to your preferred sitter (you can let us know who your top 3 favourite sitters are). One of the strengths of Little Einstein's is that we will always endeavor to find you an experienced and reliable sitter, local to you. Many of our sitters have personal commitments to their own families and may not always be possible to supply the same sitter on every occasion. We try and keep consistent sitters as it builds engagement and familiarity with children but we always have to be realistic at the same time. In practice, families find that they get to know two or three local sitters who cover most of their bookings. We'll send you an email as soon as we've filled any bookings your assigned sitter.
  • How much notice do you need if I want to book a sitter? How do I know who will come home?
We'll always try to meet last minute needs - even if we're given as little as 2 hours' notice. However, thankfully, most bookings are made with three or more days notice and we're quite happy to take your bookings ahead of time. The more notice you give us the better your chance of booking your preferred sitter before someone else does. As soon as we've filled your booking, we will send you a confirmation email with a profile of your sitter. This increases trust and confidence in our service while keeping our families and their loved ones', safe.
  • What does the sitter do after my child goes to bed?
Our sitters are willing to do light housekeeping and light meal preps after your child goes to bed. Light housekeeping can include, folding laundry, towels or loading up the dishwasher. Our sitters will always clean up after themselves and make sure to leave a clean and organized home when you arrive. We do have to clarify that this is light housekeeping only and we have a strict policy on protecting our team on what constitutes as light housekeeping. If you have other tasks, it is best to clear with us before using our service. Please note: Sitters primary responsibility is towards your children and ensuring that they have cleaned up after themselves and the children. All our sitters arrive 10 - 15 minutes prior to their job start time on their first visit with your family. During this time, please let them know what duties you would like them to do.

  • What's the difference between a sitter and a nanny?
There is a difference between a nanny and a sitter. While both play a role in supervising and caring for children when parents are away, a nanny is a daily fixture. Nannies will provide housework and are very involved in the children’s lives. Sitters are short-term caretakers who are typically hired to watch the children for a set period. Sitters often stay with children while their parents go on a date, or meet the children after-school if the parent has an appointment.
  • Is there a maximum number of children per sitter?
There are limits as to what we consider safe. Under usual circumstances, if there are more than 3 children under three years of age OR more than 4 children in total, a second sitter is required. We take child to sitter ratio very seriously as it impacts care and safety of our children.
  • How much do you charge per hour?
Our standard sitter rate with an active membership (required) starts anywhere from $22/hr - $25/hr. The hourly rate depends on the education and experience of the sitter assigned to your family. If you do not have a membership, you will pay a registration fee and then the hourly rate for the sitter, each and every time you book with us! Membership has its benefits!
  • I live in small town, city in Saskatchewan will you provide childcare where I live?
Yes, we service a number of areas in and out of Saskatchewan (Canada), please look at our service locations on our website and connect with us. We are excited to learn about your childcare needs and help you find a good sitter/nanny match or assist you with your household domestic staffing needs. If you reside outside of Saskatchewan, we can connect with you and assess your needs before we can service your request. We take childcare requests seriously. So, if we have sitters in your area or have our expert staff who are in a similar childcare coverage area, we can try and connect you to them. Looking forward to hearing from you!
  • Do I need to purchase a membership?
Yes, to continue booking with us; you will either need to purchase a membership or a day pass.
  • What basic qualifications should a nanny have?
This decision is completely yours and depends on what you value the most. At Little Einstein's Nanny Agency, nannies usually hold a degree and often have a minimum one year or more of College or University. They possess First Aid, and CPR certification and have gone through our internal training. But ultimately, it is you (our client) who decides which qualifications are most important for your childcare provider. Most nannies will also have significant childcare experience under their belt. Little Einstein's Nanny Agency screens nannies based on a comprehensive process and profile to ensure suitable candidates are available. Our screening is highly intensive, detailed and we select and recruit the best candidates to match our families needs.
